On exhibit from May 11th through June 22nd, 2018, will be mixed media artworks by David Balluff of Bettendorf, IA and paintings by Greg Dickinson of Clinton, IA.

David Balluff presents “The Great Sideshow”. Balluff’s narrative-based work encourages viewers to journey through fractured scenes of what he refers to as “stolen moments”. Composed of paintings, photographs, and other mixed media the pieces merge clashing forces within seemingly brief encounters that are both idyllic and strange.

Greg Dickinson presents “NABISCO & News Anchors. Inspired by iconic pop master Andy Warhol, Dickinson’s work depicts familiar newscasters, beloved celebrities, and patterns found on name-brand cookies. He explains that his acrylic paintings, which are “filled with a ‘weird sparkle’”, are meant to evoke joy in viewers.

Peppered with charm and humor both dark and light, the artists use illustrative imagery and bright colors to communicate ideas about familiar objects, environments, and concepts.

The public is invited to meet the artists and enjoy complimentary food and beverages from 7-9pm on May 11th at Quad City Arts in Rock Island.
