MidCoast Fine Art's Gallery West is proud to present new work by Muscatine fiber artist Chris Clark and sculptor-potter Joel Erickson.

Born and raised in Ottawa, IL, Joel Erickson has a Master’s degree in sculpture from Illinois State University. For 34 years he taught art at Moline High School, and then ceramics at Black Hawk College. His sculptures are in the collections of Illinois State University and the Figge Art Museum. He has explored sculpture and cast aluminum and bronze. In ceramics, use of the extruder led to more biomorphic, tubular forms. He notes “lately I have been exploring stone. Like my earlier cast metal pieces, I have found myself returning to curved planes, subtly bending and twisting.”

Chris Clark started to dabble in art quilts and fiber arts when she retired in 2006 and discovered that she could learn different techniques and actually produce art. She says, “The approaches that I enjoy the most are those that start with no idea of what will emerge in the process. From a very simple beginning to the final product, it is an adventure. What fun!”

Meet the artists while enjoying live music by Chris Stevens, snacks, and drinks!
