At the Make-A-Wish Kick-off Celebration on October 10 there will be an opportunity to meet area volunteers and wish families and learn more specifics about the types of volunteer needs in the area and how you can find your fit. There will be a brief program at 6:00 PM. Cash bar.

In the Illinois Quad Cities, Make-A-Wish Illinois has a need for ten additional wish granters to help grant wishes to area children with critical illness. The Walk for Wishes Moline volunteer group is also looking for individuals, corporations and community groups to help the event, planned for late June in 2020 to grow.

RSVP due by October 6 to talent@illinois.wish.org or (312) 602-9440. Adults only please.

Local wish alumni Aidan, 10, from East Moline just returned home from his wish to SNUBA dive. While on vacation, Make-A-Wish also arranged excursions for Aidan and his family to enjoy parasailing and a dolphin encounter. Learn more about his story at https://illinois.wish.org/wishes/wish-stories/i-wish-to-go/aidan_snuba

You can help make the wishes of children with critical illnesses, like Aidan, come true in your community when you become a volunteer for Make-A-Wish Illinois. Time commitments and volunteer needs vary by community. Bilingual (English/Spanish speaking) volunteers are needed as well. More than 1,500 specifically trained volunteers generously give their time and energy. Our volunteers come from all walks of the community to become involved in the mission through a variety of capacities.

To become a volunteer, you must participate in a brief on-line info session, complete an application, choose an interview time, and submit your paperwork to make sure you are a great fit for Make-A-Wish Illinois! Learn more at https://illinois.wish.org/ways-to-help/volunteering

About Make-A-Wish Illinois

Since being founded locally in 1985, the chapter has granted more than 15,000 wishes and continues its mission to share the power of a wish® with children across the state with help from dedicated volunteers and generous community members. Wishes are granted to children with life-threatening medical conditions in Illinois. A child does NOT necessarily have to have a terminal diagnosis to qualify.
