MWC ANNOUNCES SECOND ANNUAL OUTSTANDING LITERARY ARTS AWARDS WINNERS
ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS -
The Midwest Writing Center is pleased to announce the winners of its second annual
Outstanding Literary Arts Awards. This year’s Outstanding Literary Artist, recognized for his literary achievements over
the past year, is Aubrey Barnes. The Outstanding Literary Educator, recognized for his excellence in teaching literary arts
in his professional capacity, is Chris Britton. The Outstanding Literary Citizen award winner is Steven Lackey, in
recognition of his volunteerism in promoting writing in the community, including through his leadership of MWC’s twice
monthly Writer’s Studio workshops for several years.

These awards winners will be officially recognized and received a trophy at MWC’s annual meeting at 6 p.m. on
Wednesday, May 23 rd at Butterworth Center in Moline. The public is invited.
Midwest Writing Center is a non-profit organization located in Rock Island, Illinois, with the mission of "fostering
appreciation of the written word, supporting and educating its creators. 
MWC was founded over thirty years ago by David Collins and Evelyn Witter. It supports writing and promotes reading for all age levels through workshops, book signings, writing groups, readings, and other events. MWC is governed by a fifteen-member board of directors who
depend greatly on their one employee, Executive Director Ryan Collins. It is also supported by valuable members, donors,
sponsors, grantors, and generous volunteers.
