In a partnership that promotes readers and aspiring authors alike, the Bettendorf Public Library and the Midwest Writing Center have teamed up to introduce the Quad City community to local authors with a series of events called “Read Local.” These free events are held on the second Wednesday on a bimonthly basis at the Bettendorf Public Library, located at 2950 Learning Campus Dr. in Bettendorf. The year’s first event will be held on February 14th, 2018 at 7:00p.m. and no registration is required to attend. “Read Local:  Jonathan Turner" will give the audience an opportunity to be introduced to his book, “A Brief History of Bucktown: Davenport's Infamous District Transformed.” Turner explores the colorful past of the east side of downtown Davenport, its decline during the farming crisis, and its modern revitalization. Audience members will have the opportunity to ask Turner about his work and about the process of writing. All community members are invited to attend this free event.
