Youth Chess Club meets every other Saturday at the Bettendorf Public Library located at 2950 Learning Campus Dr. in Bettendorf from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM. and does not require registration.

Benjamin Franklin notably said, “The game of chess is not merely an idle amusement. Several very valuable qualities of the mind, useful in the course of human life, are to be acquired or strengthened by it.” As the Library seeks to provide information for all, it seeks to provide opportunities to promote reading and reasoning skills.   These are the exact skills that have been proven to be improved by consistent chess play. All of the materials needed for the game are available at the club meetings thanks to the Friends of the Bettendorf Library. Bettendorf Public Library staff members and volunteers well-versed in the game of chess will also be on hand to help guide players.
