Since the early 1800's, when the great Sauk warrior Black Hawk and his fellow tribe members ceded their land to the United States, the Quad Cities has accumulated a rich and colorful history. Immigrants from Germany, Belgium, Sweden, and Ireland, as well as a host of other countries, provided the area not only with a wealth of ethnic traditions and heritage, but also a business sense that created powerful industries that still impact the region, the nation, and the world. Discover our history at a variety of historic sites, museums, and neighborhoods throughout the Quad Cities and along our historic riverfronts.
