Midwest Government Contracting Symposium 2018 date_range Wed, May 23, 2018 - Thu, May 24, 2018

Who Should Attend and Why!

Are you in Construction, IT, Manufacturing, Manufacturing Support, Logistics or Professional Services?

You need to be here May 23-24, 2018!

The 2018 Midwest Government Contracting Symposium is in its 11th year in the Quad Cities.  This event has evolved over the years from a focus on small business towards a focus on all businesses interested in government opportunities. It has become the single most important conference for all businesses to gain insider knowledge and tools to best prepare them for government opportunities with organizations on the Rock Island Arsenal.  Companies and Government agencies attend to share information on the current issues surrounding government contracting.  Expert panels comprised of industry and government personnel will share real world scenarios and best practices; and small businesses, government agencies, and government prime contractors have the opportunity to network and connect to identify business opportunities.  The two day event will not only provide the Advanced Planning Briefing for Industry for organizations located on the Rock Island Arsenal, but will also be an opportunity to learn and connect in ways that will help businesses acquire the skills and information they need to increase revenues and goals.

Check the agenda tab for more details on the event topics and schedules.

Panel Discussion 1: Myth Busting, Preference Programs

In this session, we will discuss the variety of preference programs available in the federal sector and what they can and cannot do for your business. Contrary to popular belief, qualifying under a preference program does not automatically mean contract awards. We will discuss which programs have set-aside provisions within the FAR and how you can help influence acquisition strategy during the market research phase.

Panel Discussion 2: Resource Panel: Learn how the resource partners in your community can help you: large, small or government

In this session, attendees will be introduced to the resource partners of the SBA, PTAP, Army Small Business and their role in assisting not just industry, but government stakeholders, as well.

Interactive Training Session 2: All-Smalls Mentor/Protégé Program overview and success stories

Join your industry counterparts as they discuss how they have been impacted by the recently adapted All-Smalls Mentor/Protégé Program. During this session, we will share a program overview and why it makes sense for both small and large businesses to explore this new opportunity. About Healing on the Fly:

Many great Americans start nonprofits to support veterans and provide an outing, camping, resort, fishing, a vacation etc. These events are fantastic but are finite in duration. What does the Veteran do once the 'event' is over? Healing On the Fly, Inc is developing a network of support connecting all of these opportunities to all of the veterans in the greater Quad City Area. By having an established network, a 'one stop shop,' for volunteers, for nonprofits and most importantly for veterans, HOTF will provide a multitude of opportunities and a continuous schedule that is so critical to veterans reconnecting with the civilian world and especially those suffering from PTSD. We want the veterans engaged continuously and in real time.

WINE DONATIONS being accepted!  Consider bringing a bottle of wine valued at $10 or more and support Healing on the Fly!  Contact Lynn Hunt at 309-736-6823 or email Lhunt@visitquadcities.com.  Donations will be accepted at registration before 2PM on Wednesday to make it easy!
