Christina Kastell, the Putnam Museum’s Curator of History and Anthropology, tells the story of the Davenport Trading Post at Ft. Armstrong, and the new exhibit she is preparing about the trading post for the Museum at the Lunch & Learn program presented by the Colonel Davenport Historical Foundation (CDHF) on Wednesday, September 8th at 12 noon at the Arsenal Golf Club.  The lunch menu is a new Italian buffet.

It is an opportunity to learn more of Colonel George Davenport’s commercial successes as a fur trader with the American Fur Company, and his far-reaching trade with the Native Americans of this area.

Based in Chicago and born in Iowa, singer/songwriter Dick Prall comes to his easygoing – and sometimes goofy – manner quite naturally. In person, he’s charming, often peppering his conversations with clever asides wherever possible. Though he readily admits to enjoying the embrace of company, it was Prall’s exploration of what he calls “autonomy” that brought a whole new spin to his latest work.

Prall has performed alongside musical greats Jon Brion, Mike Doughty, Ari Hest, The Verve Pipe, Bobby Bare, Jr., Glen Phillips and Michelle Branch, to name a few, and he regularly tours with Iowa's favorite roots rockers, The Nadas. Volkswagen has included Prall's music on a six-month ad campaign; he's been featured on Ourstage.com and on MyTracks.com, and his tune "Sunshine Came" is the theme song to the movie soundtrack of 'Serial Loser.'

Prall was featured on the cover of the Chicago Tribune's Redeye, and headlined a showcase at Austin's South By Southwest Festival 2007. He was named Illinois Entertainer's 2006 "Best of Around Here" and was subsequently featured on The Local Tourist, the Steve Levy Show, The Steve Dahl show, and Fearless Radio.
