Prehistoric Playground Exhibit at the Family MuseumDiscover the wonder and amazement of dinosaurs in this engaging traveling exhibit at the Family Museum! Prehistoric Playground will fascinate children and families as they are introduced to animatronic dinosaurs.
The flock returns to the Quad City Botanical Center. Over 60 area artists have artistically altered platic pink lawn flamingos into works of art. The exhibit is open during regular Botanical Center hours Monday - Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5 p.m. Come explore the gardens and discover this fun and wonderful collection of Flamingos designed by area artists.
Also, on Friday August 6 don't miss the Flamingo Fling from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. This summer party and art auction is the culmination of the Flamingo Follies. Guests will enjoy live music by the Fry Daddies, appetizers, cash bar and contest for the best dressed Flamingo guest. The evening features a live auction at 7 p.m. when the Flamingos that were on exhibit during the Flamingo Follies are auctioned off to raise money for the Botanical Center. Admission to the Flamingo Fling is $15 adults and $10 kids.

Jerry Sloan is a successful writer of advertising jingles married to an equally successful lawyer. Living with the happy couple is the not-so-happy Abe Dreyfus, Jerry's curmedgeon of a father-in-law. The situation is exacerbated when Jerry's mother Mildred loses her house in a fire and needs a place to stay. Abe and Mildred can't stand each other! This hilarious comedy is one confrontation after another until the heart warming finale in which the oldsters discover that, really, each is not so bad. The show runs July 16 through August 28. To start off the Illinois BBQ Fest, Hillcrest Resort will be having a golf tournament on Friday, July 30 followed by a welcome reception, all you can eat catfish or chicken dinner for $12.95, an adult pool party, and Rock Star Karaoke.
Saturday, July 31 there will be a concert and dance that evening to kick-off the contest.
Sunday, August 1 starts the cooking. There will be local celebrities and local chefs judging the events.

The MR high school madrigal group with Kevin Ferry will sing from 1 to 2 pm.
The historic 1881 O.K. CORRAL RE-ENACTMENTS begin at 2 pm in the corner corral. The Shady Creek Shootists will perform the authentic showdown, which helped the lawmen, Wyatt Earp and his brothers, Virgil and Morgan, along with Doc Holliday, clean out the outlaw cowboys in Tombstone, Arizona Territory.
Some seating will be provided, but visitors may want to bring blankets and chairs. The show will go on rain or shine, and the rain site for a downpour will be at the 1st Street Armoury. St. Cecilia’s Children, a group of young people (ages 7 to 17) playing a variety of acoustic instruments, delights audiences of all ages with a repertoire of folk music, old time songs, and traditional hymns.
Organized in 2008, under the leadership of Jerry Schroeder, this band of vibrant and beautiful children has been delighting and inspiring listeners in coffee houses, retirement communities, folk venues, community events and church programs throughout the greater Quad Cities area. They play well and they play with heart.

NHRA King Of The Track returns with the winners of Pro, Super Pro, Super ET, and True Street racing each other for the chance to win an official NHRA Wally and bragging rights that the winner is "The King Of The Track!" We also have a trophy class for those who are new to the sport of bracket drag racing. Great event to get out for the night and watch some exciting racing at one of the nation's oldest drag strips.
