Art Exhibition Paintings by Joe Ruck

For the months of February-March the Smith Studio and Gallery is sponsoring the unique paintings of artist Joe Ruck.  This exhibition is free and open to the public so that families might enjoy seeing these unique paintings that have been brought to the western region of Illinois.

Joe Ruck is a painter and sculptor who lives and works in Campton Hills, IL.  His expressive paintings capture glimpses of life from Chicago and the surrounding area. Using oil paints applied with a brayer (roller) in place of a traditional brush he creates artwork using a tapestry of overlapping strokes. This unique impressionistic approach is both eye-catching when viewed from a distance and intriguing up close. Subjects are wide ranging including people, animals and landscapes to structures, still life and machinery.
