The Mississippi River’s water trails are great for seasoned paddlers. For those looking for calmer currents, the Rock River is a fun alternative, too. The Sylvan Slough is a beautiful backwater of the Mississippi River in downtown Moline that’s removed from the main channel and great for all skill levels. Kayaks and paddleboards can be rented here in the summer months.

The beauty and accessibility of Lake George in the Loud Thunder Forest Preserve should not be missed. Plus, it’s easy to get on the water because you can rent a variety of personal and group watercraft. Lost Grove Lake is a larger lake and another great place to paddle, but you will have to bring your own kayak or canoe.

There are five launches in the Quad Cities to take advantage of great kayaking and boating adventures including Lake Potter or Sunset Park in Rock Island, Illinois, Empire Park or Ben Butterworth Parkway in Moline, Illinois, and Mainstreet, Marquette Street or Credit Island in Davenport, Iowa.
