Located in the City of Rock Island, this five-acre natural area with native plantings, features innovative conservation methods and trails for walking, biking and mountain biking.  Open daylight hours, only.

Located just up the bike path is the bridge to Sylvan Island. This 1.2 mile network of multi-use trails runs around and across Moline’s Sylvan Island Park. Sylvan Island is an abandoned industrial site that covers approximately 35 acres in the Mississippi River/Sylvan Slough. This walking, running, and biking path is fairly flat and its surface is crushed limestone.

A network of dirt mountain biking and hiking trails of varying difficulty levels also weaves throughout the island. Despite few elevation changes, the unique nature of the island’s trails makes Sylvan Island Park a fun yet challenging and technical place to ride. The soil composition at Sylvan Island allows for quick drying after precipitation, often making it the first available trail system to ride in the Quad Cities following rain.

Island amenities include fishing, benches and picnic table, an informational kiosk, a water fountain, and a canoe/kayak portage for QC River Trails. Public restrooms are available across the Mississippi River at Sylvan Gateway Park.
